Diego Velásquez in 1512 founded the first seven "villages" that constituted the initial nuclei of the colonization in Cuba, they were: Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Baracoa, San Salvador de Bayamo, Santiago de Cuba, Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, Sancti Spiritus, Trinidad y San Cristóbal de La Habana, cities that nowadays are privileged with a rich history and a cheerful and appeased inhabitants that lives ingrained to their traditions and customs.
Cuba possesses a rich culture that is manifested in museums dedicated to topics as history, the Revolution, music, natural sciences, tobacco, rum, among other, equally the enjoyment of the music and the dance as well as of the patrimonial, architectural values and the good state of conservation of different groups of centennial constructions.
The biggest of the Antilles offers the visitor the opportunity to travel to cities like Havana, capital of the country, where stands out for their architectural wealth the Old Havana declared World Heritage by the UNESCO; in the historical Center you can enjoy visits to museums, to the Palace of fine arts and the Cathedral of the Havana; you will also be able to try the “Daiquirí" drink, in the bar-restaurant “Floridita", or the " Mojito " in the “Bodeguita del Medio”, both frequented in the fifties by the famous writer and novelist Ernest Hemingway. Santiago de Cuba, distinguished by the hospitality of its inhabitants, also possesses a rich cultural tradition as well as the city of Trinidad declared by the UNESCO World Heritage. In all them remains conserved the typical features the Spanish colonization.
