Located in Sagua la Grande, near the northern coast of the island in the northern plains of Villa Clara, this city was founded on December 8, 1812. It boasts significant heritage value, with a Historic Center declared a National Monument. The center is made up of numerous buildings of high historical value, representing different periods and presenting a coherent image characterized by the predominance of Neoclassical, Eclectic, and Traditional styles, with an overall integrity and minimal presence of modern structures.
Sagua la Grande also stands out as the birthplace of illustrious Cuban figures in science and culture, such as Joaquín Albarrán, Wifredo Lam, Antonio Machín, and Alfredo Sosabravo, among others. The building, dating back to 1925, was an example of luxury in its time, originally conceived as a hotel to accommodate the large number of visitors who came to the city for various reasons.
